Automotodrom Grobnik race track is situated on the plain above city of Rijeka, road distance 15 km from city centre. Track entrance is in proximity of highway toll direction Zagreb and Split. Grobnik race track named “Grobnik beauty” was built back in 1978. by international standards and has approvals from FIM ( Fédération Internationale de Motorcyclisme ) and FIA ( Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile )
From construction to the year of 1990. Grobnik race track hosted many international events including Grand prix race of world championship in 1978. The winners of this first Grand Prix held on Grobnik were Greg Hansford (250 and 300 ccm), Angel Nieto (125 ccm) and Ricardo Tormo (50 ccm)
Grobnik is host to FIM sidecar world championship, FIM Vintage Road racing European Championship and FIM Alpe Adria Championship. Motorbike track record is 26 years old held by Wayne Rainey 1:28:69 in 500 ccm and car track record is from 2011 at 1:41:66 held by Damir Opačak.
Race track runs in anti-clockwise direction and the length is 4,168 km or 2,590 miles. Width of the track is 10 meters (15 meters in start line) oriented from east to west with a total of 15 curves. Altitude difference is 22 meters and maximum slope 10%. Automotodrom Grobnik d.o.o
